Is this report even permitted in its job description per the Charter of the City of New York? Why is a city agency promoting race division?
In its “Analyzing the Racial Wealth Gap and Implications for Health Equity” report of meetings in November 2021 and February 2022 on white vs. black/hispanic wealth gap, it recommends:
- Universal Health Care
- Medical Debt Cancellation
- Student Debt Cancellation
- Baby Bonds
- Reparations
It calls for “(c)omprehensive data collection on net worth needs to be integrated into regular public health epidemiological surveillance at the local, state, and federal level in the U.S. Consistent and systematic collection of wealth data is necessary for surveilling health, addressing racial inequities, and evaluating successful outcomes in achieving health equity.” (page 24)
City Council has already proposed a Reparation Commission (Int 1082-2023) sponsored by over 40% of the sitting Council members!
