NYC Buildings code allows front yard fence not over 4 feet. A 5′ brick fence dispute was file in 2013.
Owner spent 10 years of her life, and had to hire architects, contractors, expeditors for failing to remove one foot of height the proper way. In the meantime, her next door neighbor and other houses having a fence over 4 feet are not fined!
It is wrong that homeowner cannot enjoy and secure own property. The Buildings Department should not penalize property owners for non-structural violations, and apply rules only when a complaint is filed versus globally and fairly.
